Brazil-Germany workshop at Green Rio 2024 will bring together bioeconomy and sea economy |
In 2024, the Brazil-Germany Workshop at Green Rio / Green Latin America will have the theme: “Bioeconomy, Sea Economy and Bioenergy – on the Path to Decarbonization”. This year’s meeting has the support of the German Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro and will take place on the 1st. November, Friday, second day of Green Rio. Since 2016, the Brazil Germany Bioeconomy Workshop has been held at Green Rio, in a partnership between the governments of Brazil and Germany. The 2024 edition will have a new format in the presentation of the two countries.
In the area of bioeconomy, the meeting will continue previous editions regarding technological innovations and international cooperation between Brazil and Germany. Projects linked to agriculture, biomass, science and technology will be part of the program.
This year’s news is in the economy of the sea, where sustainable ports, decarbonization and energy transition will be discussed. The IMO (International Marine Organization) updated its strategy to achieve net zero emissions in global shipping by around 2050. The topic will be related to bioenergy and oceanic research, which will be fundamental to achieving this objective.
The Workshop will have representatives from Brazil and Germany, aiming to bring international experiences and opportunities. The content of the event is in line with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Participation in the workshop is free and accreditation for Green Rio will soon open via the website www.greenrio.com.br
