The first Blue Economy RIO Summit will be held during
Green Rio-Green Latin America 2024
On October 31st and November 1st, 2024, at Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro, the first Blue Economy RIO Summit will be held during the Green Rio event. National and international speakers will discuss topics ranging from Sanitation to Marine Spatial Planning, among other relevant topics in the Blue Economy scenario.
The largest environmental project in Rio de Janeiro, which is the recovery of Guanabara Bay, will be featured on the first day of the Blue Economy RIO Summit. Sanitation is an unavoidable emergency that impacts health and sustainable development.
Starting as an international event, the summit will feature speakers from Australia, Belgium, France, Portugal and Sweden.
Representatives from the OECD will also be at the Blue Economy RIO Summit when they will personally deliver a study with the main recommendations for the Metropolis of Rio de Janeiro to become a true powerhouse of the Blue Economy, combining sustainability and environmental preservation with economic development and the generation of jobs and income.

The Blue Economy RIO Summit is a joint initiative of the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability of the State of Rio de Janeiro and Green Rio. SEAS actively participated in the formatting of this strategic Summit that already includes developments for 2025.
